History and architecture
Sortebrødre Church was originally part of a large monastery complex. Inside you can admire more than 200 pictures painted by I.C. Trane between 1726 and 1734, which adorn the chairs and illustrate the biblical beliefs of the time. The altarpiece, made in Antwerp between 1520 and 1540, originally stood in Copenhagen Castle Church and was donated to Sortebrødre Church by King Frederik IV after the Great Fire of Viborg in 1726. The church is a beautiful combination of Romanesque and Gothic styles.

The Mageløs alley, named after a poisonous green phoenix, adds extra charm to the visit. Once upon a time there was a house here that everyone thought was magelous, but it burned down several times.
